MAFER
Maria Fernanda Reyes (AKA: Mafer) spent much of her childhood on a beach where she taught herself to swim and eventually surf. Her talent with a surfboard got noticed by a local surfer, who became her coach, and with his guidance, Mafer instantly became Peru’s top female international longboarder.
In 2019, Mafer got selected to compete in the Pan American Games 2019, and a favourite to win gold. This personal dream and shared by many, quickly disappeared after breaking her board in the first round.
This story takes us through her turbulent journey, where we witness an unexpected end.
